Function


Implement instruction based on The NYC Department of Education Prekindergarten Performance Standards, aligned with
children’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives.


Minimum Qualifications


 M.S. in Special Education. New York State teacher certification, (initial or professional certification) in Students with Disabilities,
Birth-Grade 2.


Principal Responsibilities

  1. Implement instructional (e.g. Applied Behavior Analysis) and behavioral strategies and methodology in the home and classroom.
  2. Write annual IEP goals and objectives and educational progress summaries for CPSE reviews.

  3. Write Quarterly Progress Reports and individual session notes to monitor children’s progress.

  4. Assess developmental functioning and learning skills of students in all areas, at regularly planned intervals using The Brigance
    Inventories and other formal and informal assessment tools.

  5. Collect and monitor data related to individualized behavior plans, IEPs, children’s attendance and other instructional and administrative
    areas as needed.

  6. Develop an ongoing professional relationship with parents and provide suggestions for follow-up activities.

  7. Attend team meetings and CPSE conferences as needed.

  8. Implement the policies and procedures contained in the Early Learning Center manuals related to the SEIT program.

  9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

  1. Instruction and behavioral strategies is individualized for children to master IEP goals.
  2. Compliance with New York City, State and Federal guidelines is maintained.
  3. Student progress is monitored and recorded.
  4. Children’s development and learning is formally and informally assessed.
  5. Data outcomes are reported monthly.
  6. A partnership between the provider and parents is established and continued throughout the year.
  7. Interdisciplinary teamwork is promoted through team meetings.
  8. Compliance with safety, health, and administrative issues relevant to the SEIT program is maintained.
  9. Related duties are performed completely, on time and accurately.
